Description: Victorian stained and jeweled window. Extensive use of rippled and hand rolled opalescent glass. Original glass throughout and original frame.

This is a sweet design. Take a look at the drapery cord and tie-back.  Notice how the cord and tie-back crosses in and out of the border  designs. Other parts of the scene do the same "border crossing." This, to me, is a sign of artisan devotion to the craft which existed for a brief time in the mid-late Victorian Period, the all-time high point of stained glass making.  This Zenith of American Stained Glass may have been too brief, but knowing this makes finding such outstanding windows all the more rewarding.

The drapery cord, tie-back, and detail parts of the urn are made of mouth-blown Muff Glass. The spiked foliage is made of the very- tightest French ripple from Chicago. The jewels are wonderfully executed and all hand-faceted.

En suite with AE449 and AE450.
