Description: To call this horseshoe-shaped window rare is probably an understatement. The only other horseshoe windows we have seen—two to be exact—have also been from Louisville, hometown of the Kentucky Derby, and those two were not for sale.

You are looking at a delightful piece of American design that happens to be executed in stained glass. The feathery-looking palmate-forms appear to have originated from a Grecian motif called an anthemion, which is said to be a stylized honeysuckle. In any case, the floral pattern works extremely well here within the matrix of contrasting colors and textures which make up the rest of the window.

Particularly dramatic is the vivid interplay of the blue faceted-jewel center cluster and the variegated red-brown surrounding glass.

The frame is original and very solid. Some damage has occurred to this window in the past. At present we are identifying appropriate vintage replacement glass in order to restore the window properly.
