Victorian stained glass was popular in America
from the 1850’s until World War I. During this period Americans developed
a keen appreciation for stained windows as an art form and reflected this
appreciation by eagerly building it into their homes. The wide acceptance
by designers, architects and homeowners led to unparalleled advancements
in assembly techniques, developments of better quality glass, and the formulation
of dazzling new colors and glass textures. In the process, an amazing diversity
of designs were created. This was a most exciting time for stained glass
artists.
